Elizabeth's Two Sisters Tag

A couple of days ago, I was tagged by Kate so here are my responses to Elizabeth's Two Sisters Tag!

1. Do you like Greta Garbo?

Yes I love her movies but like Kate, I think I like her talkies more than her silent movies

2. In Buster Keaton's MGM films, do his gestures and his plots resemble those of Harry Langdon?
I'm afraid I haven't seen any of Harry Langdon's yet but looking forward to seeing them.

3. Who is your favorite director of silent dramas?
Frank Borzage

4. Do Harold Lloyd's movies (movies, not shorts) drag along?
Sometimes they can

5. Who made better silent shorts, Mack Sennett or Hal Roach?
Hal Roach

6. Is Al. St. John a genuine heavy, or a baby heavy? (This is based on the idea of the "Baby Vamp" which was the character of the girl who was vampish, but not a vamp.)
Ummm I'm not sure who Al St. John is. Sorry!

7. Do you like 1920's musicals?
Yes I do like them :) I like musicals from the 1920's to the 1960's.

8. Do you like Al Jolson's movies?
I actually haven't seen his movies but I have heard his music and thought it was good.

9. Who is your favorite animal star?
I'm going to have to go with Kate on this one, Asta! I loved him in The Thin Man, hehe

Style Icon: Hayley Mills

Hayley Mills was the most popular child star of the 196o's through her countless disney films, which included "That Darn Cat" and "Pollyanna". The reason that Hayley Mills was such an icon in style is because young girls everywhere wanted to be just like and that included, dressing just like her. She was the pre-Hannah Montana(without scandals included, like it is today) and girls and boys alike wanted to be just like her. Hayley Mills represented a wholesome and fun child back in the 1960's, something that we rarely see at all in today's generation. Today, Hayley Mills will always be remembered for her charm and her delightful humor shown throughout her movies. Even though, she is now in her 60's, Miss Hayley Mills still resembles that fun child from the 1960's. As usual, now onto the pictures!

I hope you all enjoyed the pictures of Hayley Mills, as I said last week, this is the last Style Icon blog post for now. It's going on a bit of a hiatus for now, so I can bring back my other series, The Underdog Series back.

Oh I'd also like to add, if you never got the chance to check out Kate's blog post on Hayley, then you should definitely check it out. On that blog post, she did a painting of Hayley, which I might also add, is absolutely marvelous! Here it is- http://silentsandtalkies.blogspot.com/2009/04/hayley-mills-happy-belated-birthday.html

Ta-Ta for now :)

And the Lucky Guy Is.....

The votes were tallied up and the bachelor that will be dating Miss Marsha Hunt is..........

BACHELOR #1!!!!

The votes were very very close between Bachelor #1 and Bachelor #2, sadly though Bachelor #3 walked away with 0 votes. Better luck next time, Bachelor #3!

Now that Marsha and the rest of you know which Bachelor she'll be dating, let's reveal who the bachelors were!

Coming in third place with 0 votes was Bachelor #3 and he is.....

Actor John Hodiak- who has appeared in such films as "Lifeboat" and "The Harvey Girls"

(Kudos to Millie for figuring out who B3 was!!)

Coming in 2nd place, was Bachelor #2 with 3 votes and that bachelor is......

Actor Cornel Wilde- who has appeared in such films as "Road House" and "The Greatest Show on Earth"

Also I might add, when both Cornel and Marsha were younger, they did date for a very short time!

Now onto the big reveal of who Bachelor #1 is, Bachelor #1 not only walked away with 4 votes but he also walked away with Marsha Hunt. Bachelor #1 is........

Actor Jeffrey Lynn- who has appeared in such films as "Four Daughters" and "Underground"

Again I would like to add that Miss Hunt revealed in a 1997 issue of Classic Images, that she had a crush on Jeffrey Lynn calling him "handsome beyond belief" and nicknamed him "Lindy". You check that out here- http://www.classicimages.com/past_issues/view/?x=1997/april/hunt.html

Congrats to Marsha Hunt and Jeffrey Lynn!!!

Thanks to everyone who participated! So would you like another Old Hollywood Dating Game to come onto my blog??? If so, write down below on the comments and let me know and within a week, a bachelor will be chosen for the next entry into the game. Style Icon: Joel McCrea

Out of the actors that were chosen last week, just one could be picked and that lucky guy was Joel McCrea which was chosen by Juliette. Every movie of his that I've seen so far, I've liked. He has the endearing guy next door, I'll protect you type of personality in most of his movies and that's why I find him so likable and oh so stylish. I think out of all the films of his(that I've seen) I would have to say "The More the Merrier" was my favorite. Not only was he wonderful in the film but the entire cast was magical. If you haven't seen that movie yet, you ought to because it's a delight! Now onto the pictures of Mr.McCrea!

Seriously how much cuter could they get???

Tomorrow I will be posting the final dating game blog post, in which I will not only announce which bachelor will end up with Marsha Hunt but I will also be revealing who the bachelors are. So stay tuned for that, as for this, next week's Style Icon will be last. It'll be on hiatus for a while because I'm going to bring back my other series, "The Underdog Series", back onto the blog. The Underdog Series blog post will be on an extremely talented actress that I can't imagine anyone disliking- Jean Arthur. The choice for the Style Icons final post(for right now) is-

Child Stars(from the 1930's to the 1960's) -

Which will include-

Hayley Mills

Scotty Beckett

Ann E. Todd

Mickey Rooney

I hope you all are having a great week so far and stay tuned for The Dating Game blog post tomorrow! :)

The Old Hollywood Dating Game: You Decide

I know I should have done so much better with this and if I ever do it again, it will be much more improved. Even though, it didn't turn out the way I wanted to, I thought I would still let you choose who the lucky bachelor is to be. If you weren't a follower when this happened, included in this blog will be the previous blog posts with the questions and answers to further help you with your choice of bachelor. The lucky lady was actress Marsha Hunt and the idea was for the followers to ask the bachelors questions about themselves, which was done. Now here is the final part, the choosing the bachelor part.

After you've viewed each of the links, write down below in the comments, which bachelor you would like to see with Marsha Hunt. I then will post the winner next Thursday and also announce who the bachelor was. Unlike how I do the picking with the fashion posts, this will be based on how many voted altogether a bachelor has.

Happy Picking!

Style Icon: Dana Andrews

Last week, I had asked whether you wanted to see women again or some men, and everyone wanted to see men. I then named four men and out of those men, you were to choose just one. Randomly picking again, the lucky comment was from...... Miss McCrocodile who asked for Dana Andrews to be the next style icon after Robert Montgomery. What love about Dana Andrews' style is that he always looked so good, whether he was playing a detective, or if he was in the army, or just dressing up to go out, Dana always dressed his best. I have found a ton of Dana pictures, so enjoy everyone!!!

They certainly would have made an interesting couple don't you think? lol

Aww look how young he is!

For next week's Style Icon, it will once again be a man and here are your choices-

- Gregory Peck
- Ronald Reagan
- Gary Cooper
- Burt Lancaster
- Joel McCrea(I know that he was nominated last week but it seemed a lot of you wanted to see him on here, so he's up here again!)

The next Style Icon will be randomly choosen and next Wednesday I will be posting the winner. Once again, thank you to all of the people who wished me a happy birthday on Monday, every single one of you is awesome. Hope you all are enjoying your week so far! :D
