I'll skip on the remakes please!

Today I was browsing the internet, when I found the review for "Beyond a Reasonable Doubt", a remake of 1956 film(with the same title and was directed by Fritz Lang). The website that I was looking at, gave the movie a C but seeing as I'm a dedicated old movie fan, I would have probably given it something worse because it's a remake.

The thing is, I will tolerate the new movies(it really depends on what the movie is though) that come out of Hollywood but I just can't stand remakes- no matter what movie they are remaking. I had been irked for some time about hearing that BARD would be the next victim in a serious of bad remakes, so I'm always worried about what movie, new Hollywood wants to remake. So this entire blog is trailers(yep, trailers) but I'm going to show the old movie's trailer and then afterward show the remake's trailer. So I want you to be the judge, would you watch the remake of these movies or are you like me and refuse to watch them? Enjoy the trailers and I promise to post more this weekend!

"Beyond a Reasonable Doubt" 1956 Cast: Dana Andrews and Joan Fontaine Directed by: Fritz Lang

"Beyond a Reasonable Doubt" 2009 Cast: Jesse Metcalf, Amber Tamblyn, and Michael Douglas Directed by: Peter Hyams

"The Women" 1939 Cast: Norma Shearer, Joan Crawford, Rosalind Russell, Paulette Goddard, and Joan Fontaine Directed by: George Cukor

I do realize that was a remake of "The Women" in the 1950's with June Allyson but I wasn't able to find a trailer of it.

"The Women"2008 Cast: Meg Ryan, Annette Bening, Eva Mendes, and Debra Messing Directed by: Diane English

"Cheaper by the Dozen" 1950 Cast: Clifton Webb, Myrna Loy, and Jeanne Crain Directed by: Walter Lang

"Cheaper by the Dozen" 2003 Cast: Steve Martin, Bonnie Hunt, and Piper Perabo Directed by: Shawn Levy

"Sabrina" 1954 Cast: Audrey Hepburn, Humphrey Bogart, and William Holden Directed by: Billy Wilder

"Sabrina" 1995(Couldn't find a trailer, so I put a clip of the movie instead) Cast: Julia Ormond, Harrison Ford, and Greg Kinnear Directed by: Sydney Pollack

"Yours, Mine, and Ours" 1968 Cast: Lucille Ball, Henry Fonda, and Van Johnson Directed By: Melville Shavelson

"Yours, Mine, and Ours" 2005 Cast: Dennis Quaid, Rene Russo, and Sean Faris Directed by: Raja Gosnell

"The Parent Trap" 1961 Cast: Hayley Mills, Maureen O' Hara, and Brian Keith Directed by: David Swift ( I couldn't find a trailer, but again found a clip)

"The Parent Trap" 1998 Cast: Lindsay Lohan, Dennis Quaid, and Natasha Richardson Directed by: Nancy Meyers

Sorry for the size of the videos, I don't know why they can't be the same size as one another but whatever..

I know that there are a dozen more remakes out there but I thought I would just show you a sampling of the movies that have been remade throughout the years. So are you like me, would you skip the remake entirely and just watch the original or do you watch both? What films would you absolutely hate to see be remade??

My newest discovery

This post has nothing to do with Jeffrey Lynn but I would like to include other things into this besides just him. My latest discovery came from the movie "Marianne"(1929) starring Marion Davies, Lawrence Gray, and Cliff Edwards. I found the movie to be quite enjoyable but the two things, that really got my interest were Lawrence Gray(such a handsome fella!) and Cliff Edwards. I know that I had seen Cliff before, but as typical of me I usually can never remember where, so after watching the movie, I looked online and happily found out, that he was the voice of Jiminy Cricket in the 1940 Disney Classic "Pinocchio". Boy, was I overjoyed to hear that, I adore that movie. It's part of my childhood and also how can you not love Jiminy?? Well my search didn't stop there on him, I went directly to youtube and found some wonderful songs that he sang, that I thought I would share with the rest of you. If anyone has any recommendations to his songs, I would love to hear them. Enjoy the songs that I've discovered and I hope you like them as much I do!

Four Daughters Movie Trailer 1938

The film that catapulted John Garfield to fame but it was Jeffrey Lynn who got my attention. Enjoy!

Step aside, Claude it's Jeffrey Lynn's month!

Well maybe not technically but for me it'll be all Jeffrey Lynn. For the month of September, TCM will be airing 34 movies of Claude Rains, including "Four Daughters" and "Daughters Courageous", which also happens to star Jeffrey Lynn.

So instead of making this month Claude Rains, I'm making the entire month of September dedicated to Jeffrey Lynn. I know, I know I already talk about him quite a lot but this time, I won't just be talking about him, I'll also talk about the movies that will be airing on TCM this month. Also I will include pictures of my favorite actor, videos from his films, his teaming with Priscilla Lane, and some short reviews on my favorite movies of his. I'm also going to review the radio play of "Four Daughters", which starred John Garfield, Jeffrey Lynn, Leota Lane, and Priscilla Lane. Now that August is done and over with, let's get started with September and with Jeffrey Lynn.

Down below is the schedule for Jeffrey Lynn movies, that will be airing this month on TCM. I've also included the movies that will be on in November and December. Make sure to record your DVRs, looks like September is going to be a fun month!
