My newest discovery

This post has nothing to do with Jeffrey Lynn but I would like to include other things into this besides just him. My latest discovery came from the movie "Marianne"(1929) starring Marion Davies, Lawrence Gray, and Cliff Edwards. I found the movie to be quite enjoyable but the two things, that really got my interest were Lawrence Gray(such a handsome fella!) and Cliff Edwards. I know that I had seen Cliff before, but as typical of me I usually can never remember where, so after watching the movie, I looked online and happily found out, that he was the voice of Jiminy Cricket in the 1940 Disney Classic "Pinocchio". Boy, was I overjoyed to hear that, I adore that movie. It's part of my childhood and also how can you not love Jiminy?? Well my search didn't stop there on him, I went directly to youtube and found some wonderful songs that he sang, that I thought I would share with the rest of you. If anyone has any recommendations to his songs, I would love to hear them. Enjoy the songs that I've discovered and I hope you like them as much I do!

I'm so glad you did a post on Cliff Edwards! He is my favorite singer, bar none, and I hope to write a biography on him some day! He's the father of jazz singing, was a wonderful actor, and was a genuinely nice person to boot! If you want to hear more of his songs, this website has a really good selection here:

And are some episdoes from one of his radio shows from the 1940s:

I adored "Marianne" which aired most recently during TCM's Marion Davies day. In fact, when the day was over, Cliff's songs were the first thing I rewound to watch again.
Thanks for the links, Elizabeth!

I have to mention that Cliff Edwards was born in Hannibal, Missouri (just an hour away from me), which is also the hometown of Mark Twain and the unsinkable Molly Brown. Besides Jiminy Crickett, I remember him from His Girl Friday as well. He was hilarious as Endicott!

I laughed a bit to myself while reading this - you are so like me in some ways! "Hmm.. I recognize that fellow. Imdb... Ah! He was the gardener in that 1930's film I saw two years ago! YouTube... Wow, did he know how to RUMBA? Wikipedia... And he became the president of Rwanda?!" Or, something like that ;)
