365 Movies: Alice Adams Review

Alice Adams stars Katharine Hepburn, Fred MacMurray, Fred Stone, and Frank Albertson in this 1935 melodrama. The film is about a young woman, who is dreams of bigger things in life. Her life is quite simple, compared to the rest of the town, which is filled with rich snobby people. Katharine and the rest of the gang play their roles to perfection and I quite sympathize with Alice. I know what it feels to not be able to afford the things in life, everyone else seems to have. I grew up not having the most money in the world, so seeing this movie, I was able to understand the character and being able to put myself in her shoes. This was a very good movie, that I feel everyone needs to see. It's definitely one of Katharine's best films and I think everyone will enjoy this film.

Glad you liked it. I recorded it a couple of weeks ago when it was on TCM, but I haven't watched it yet.

This is one of my favorite films, I'm so glad you got to see it! I always felt like Alice when I was in school (both the lack of money & social awkwardness) and I thought Katharine Hepburn did a perfect job portraying how awful that experience is.

I think it's actually my favorite performance of hers, ever! I agree, this is definitely a must-see!
