Female stars Ruth Chatterton, George Brent, and Ruth Donnelly in this 1933 film, directed by Michael Curtiz. The film is about power house, Alison Drake(Chatterton) treats men, the same way, she believes they treat her. She's an independent wise cracking, tough gal but when her heart gets in the middle of things, complications arise. The film is quite saucy but it's a tad sexist. It had quite a conventional ending especially for the time, which irritated me quite a bit. I'm honestly, not a big fan of Ruth. I think she comes off too chatty for my liking but she and George are steamy together!

I loved this movie so much... until the ending. Boy, wasn't that depressing? Especially since when I watched it Robert Osborne's lead-in prepared me for a feminist pre-code, not a sexist one! :\
Anyway it's neat seeing those two onscreen together, though, since they were married :) I love watching films with real-life couples in them!
i'm in agreement with you both, the ending is a real let down. it was NOT in character at all for her to do what she did or at least HOW she did it. but until that point it's a damn good film. still, i prefer Ruth in the 2 films she made with Wellman, "Frisco Jenny" and "Lily Turner" and of course there's "Dodsworth" as well.
