Moon Over Miami

Last Friday, I watched the musical "Moon over Miami'' that starred Don Ameche, Betty Grable, Robert Cummings, and Carole Landis. I really liked this movie though it isn't a top-notch musical. Robert and Don played off each other so well as best friends who often are competiting against one another. Betty and Carole look amazingly alike and in the film, they play sisters who are looking for a rich man to sink their teeth into. The songs in the movie were really great, much better than I had expected. The dancing is phenomenal to watch and whoever the two men that were tap-dancing did a splendid job. The only problem I had with this movie was that, they never developed a relationship between Carole and Robert. It was automatically assumed they loved each other, after meeting each other only twice. Don's and Robert's singing voices aren't particularly great but it's still funny to hear them try. Before I forget to mention, I loved seeing Jack Haley as the waiter in this film. He was able to add an extra attitude to the film. He seemed to always deliver his lines on the spot and he did it so well.

Besides watching movies, this week has been rather slow. I've managed to watch an old movie every day which is great in itself. Tonight I'm planning on watching "The Broadway Melody'' and I'm hoping that it's good. Until then!

Most people under, say, sixty-- if they even know who Don Ameche is-- don't know how popular he was in the 1930s. We all think of him as the "old guy" in Cocoon. However, since one of your favorites is "Midnight", you know what a "dreamboat" he was to the ladies!
