365 Movies: Caged Review

Caged stars Eleanor Parker and Agnes Moorehead in this 1950 drama. The film is about 19 year old, Marie Allen(Moorehead) who is put into prison after unknowingly being an accessory to a robbery. During the robbery, Marie's husband is killed and Marie is then, thrown into the slammer. This is a very powerful and deep film that literally gave me goosebumps, while I watched it. Without a doubt, this is Eleanor's best role, she really does a superb job as the innocent girl, hardened up by prison. This film gave me chills because it was so realistic and sad to watch but without a doubt, an excellent film.

pretty hard edged stuff huh? always on my list of must-see films, no matter how many times i've seen it it still packs a serious punch and Eleanor Parker's performance is simply incredible. i still think Bette Davis should have won that year for All About Eve but Eleanor was well-derserving of her nomination.
and how about that Hope Emerson, yikes!!! brutal!
