365 Movies: Holiday Review

Holiday stars Cary Grant, Katharine Hepburn, Doris Nolan, Lew Ayres, Edward Everett Horton, and Binnie Barnes in this 1938, George Cukor film. After getting engaged to a wealthy and beautiful woman, Johnny Case(Grant) is then set to meet her family and announce the engagement to them and her friends. Her father(Henry Kolker) is very much like his daughter and doesn't approve of Johnny's liberal ways. Her sister, Linda(Hepburn) and brother, Ned(Ayres) are the black sheep of the family. They aren't like their Father and the two get along swimmingly. Johnny is torn between his fiancées conservative ways or remaining like his usual self. This is an excellent film with a superb cast. Out of the several films, that Katharine and Cary did together, I think this is my favorite. They are perfect together and so sweet in each scene they are in together. Usually Katharine plays characters that are uptight, but in this, she's very loose and lovely. I also think that this is my favorite of Katharine's movies.
