365 Movies: Happy Anniversary Review

Happy Anniversary(1959) stars David Niven and Mitzi Gaynor who are celebrating their 13th wedding anniversary, when everything seems to go awry. Their marriage goes from hot to cold within minutes and you see more arguments than you do seeing them apologize to one another.

I adore both David Niven and Mitzi Gaynor but in this, they are much better separated. Mitzi dazzles on her own but with David as her husband, I don't know, I feel like they don't belong as a couple in the movie. David is a genius but not with Mitzi as his wife, they just don't seem to have the chemistry nor spark that makes a couple worth watching.

The most worth while performance to watch in this movie was Carl Reiner, whom every time I see him in a movie, he makes me smile. He has one of those personalities, that makes me smile from ear to ear.

Personally for me, I wasn't a big fan of the movie. I'd skip on it, next time it comes on tcm.

It was so fun to read your list of movies! Makes me curious to see what other bloggers are watching as well.

Ey, this was on TCM today! I just watched a scene. Gaynor seemed annoying, but I always love David Niven. But no, it didn't seem like the best picture of all time!
