Good Old MASH

So Yesterday practically everyone was playing MASH, so I thought I would join in. My choices for the crushes were Gower Champion, Dennis Morgan, Jeffrey Lynn, James Dean, and Richard Todd. Then onto the numbers it was 3, 2,1,4,&,0. The cars were a Volkswagen Beetle, a Pt Cruiser, A Mini Cooper, An Altima, and A Hummer(Which I despise). Then places it was London, Philly, Boston, NYC, and Paris(which is considered the snobbiest). Colors were green, yellow, brown, purple, and blue. And finally jobs were TCM Researcher, TCM Host, Orthodontist Assistant(Which I was when I was 16 yrs old), An Archivist, and finally an odd ball one a plumber. So my choices were picked and it was time for MASH to begin and the results were -

Behold... My Future

I will marry Gower Champion.

After a wild honeymoon, We will settle down in Boston in our fabulous Apartment.

We will have 2 kid(s) together.

Our family will zoom around in a Green Altima.

I will spend my days as a Orthodontist Assistant, and live happily ever after.

whats your future

Geez so I'm married to Gower Champion, I feel quite sad that Marge is without her man. What I really wanted was to get Jeffrey but Gower is perfectly fine, hey at least he can dance for me. The whole orthodontist assistant thing is a pain but at least I don't have many kids to worry about right? lol :) So who did you all get?

Friendly Blogger Award

As usual it takes me a while to accept an award but I've finally managed to getting around to it. I was given the Friendly Blogger Award by Kate Gabrielle of flapperdoodle and Millie of Classic Forever. If you've never checked those blogs out from either of them, you should do so now. Kate is an absolutely amazing painter and sketches so wonderfully, while Millie's "Photo of the Day" and her semi-reviews always make me smile with glee. So now I need to pass on this award onto other magnificent blogs!

Genevieve of Classic Film Oasis

Graciebird of Dreaming in Black and White

Sarah of Cinema Splendor

Casey of Noir Girl

Raquelle of Out of the Past(even though she doesn't accept awards, still her blog is amazing!)

Lolita of Lolita's Classics

Caitlin of Fire and Music

Plus I'll resend the award back to Kate and Millie because they deserve to have it again. =) Every single one of them is so incredibly talented and so worth checking out.

Merry Old English Actors

There is just something so interesting and fascinating about British Actors. Can I really explain my fascination? Not exactly, I could say it was their accents that makes me want to watch their movies but I know that wouldn't be entirely true. I could also say that their gentlemanly behavior has always attracted me. Why is it, they always seem so put together and regal? Again, I can't explain it but whatever it is, I just adore British Actors. Since I was younger, there was always a certain kind of appeal towards them, so you guessed it, this blog post centers entirely on them. For this blog post, I'm going to write about 5 different British Actors(all are listed on the poll) and what I like about them the most, and movies of theirs you should check out. It's bit of an introduction if you haven't been formally introduced. So sit back, grab some popcorn(if you eat that, that is), and enjoy this blog post. :)

I'm not very familiar with this British Actor but after seeing him in just one movie, I've become more tempted to see more of his films. Irish Actor- Richard Todd, the first movie I had seen him in was the 1950 film "Stage Fright", in which he played a man who is hiding away from the police for possibly killing his lover's husband. What is so terrifying about him in this film is that he can be this calm and relaxed man one moment and then the next you are scared out of your mind, if he's going to kill you. He gave me the chills while I was watching the movie and that's why I had to see more of his films. Now don't get the idea, that he was only known for playing psychotic killers because he was known for more than that. He had done several war films throughout the 1950's and 1960's and starred with such actors and actresses as Robert Taylor and Bette Davis. He played roles such as Sir Walter Raleigh to Robin Hood, so this actor wasn't the type to play only one type of character. He was quite a versatile actor and that's why I find him so intriguing. Below is part one of "Stage Fright", after seeing this movie twice I am more than ready to see more of his films. He is one talented Irishmen.

Films to Check out-
"Stage Fright"
"The Dam Busters"
"A Man Called Peter"
"The Virgin Queen"
"D-Day, The Sixth of June"

With talented daughters, you could only expect that their Father, John Mills would be just as talented. Though personally, I haven't seen any of his films, John Mills is a name to be remembered. An extremely talented actor, many film fans often forget the English Actor. The English Actor made more than 120 films, in an amazing seven decade career. I almost feel guilty about not seeing more films of his because from what I've heard, he was incredibly talented. Just by watching a small clip of a movie with John Mills, I know that his talent is much more than I expected.

Films to Check out-
"Tunes of Glory"
"Hobson's Choice"
"Great Expectations"
"The Way to the Stars"
"The Wrong Box"

The man with one of the greatest voices is none other than Ronald Colman. With a crisp and clear sound to his voice, you can only imagine that Ronald Colman himself would be marvelous to watch. In practically every movie, he made Ronald portrayed characters with a story behind them. They weren't two dimensional characters, they had a life beyond just the movie. Ronald Colman was able to capture that in every single one of his movies, from his early films such as "The White Sister" to his later films such as "A Double Life", Ronald would always deliver the best to his audience. He was also able to always be a gentleman through and through.

Films to Check out-
"Random Harvest"
"A Tale of Two Cities"
"Lost Horizon"
"Beau Geste"
"The Prisoner of Zenda"

Before you get the idea, that Michael Wilding is only known for being Elizabeth Taylor's 2nd husband than you need an update. Michael Wilding had a film career before, during, and after his marriage to Elizabeth. Even though, he is more commonly known for his marriage to Elizabeth, Michael's acting was worth a look. His brilliant performance in "Stage Fright" as Detective Smith(A.K.A. Ordinary Smith) was what launched my interest in watching more of his films. And if you thought, he was typecast into the same old roles, you are wrong again. Michael played a detective one moment but then he could play a tights wearing Prince Charming and still make it look so good.

Films to Check out-
"Stage Fright"
"The Glass Slipper"
"Piccadilly Incident"
"Under Capricorn"
"Spring in Park Lane"

And finally one of the greatest British Actors that I've ever seen on the screen, Michael Redgrave. Michael Redgrave was a suave, put together, sarcastic Englishman with a sense of humor that attracted the audience. When I first saw him, I was flabbergasted at how funny he was. I don't know exactly why, I believed he would be uptight but I was just happy at the surprise that I had seen. He wasn't the type of man who was overly this or that, he was right in the middle, which fit his personality perfectly. When I watched him in "No, My Darling Daughter", as an overbearing father, I could completely envision like the character when it came to his daughters. Every character, he portrayed he was able to make you believe he was them. From his character in "The Lady Vanishes" to "The Dam Busters", he was just so darn believable in every film role. One thing, that I believe an actor should incorporate into their actor is part of themselves, otherwise the character doesn't seem entirely real. Michael was able to add just a perfect dash of himself in every character and that's why he's so incredibly fascinating.

Films to Check out-
"The Lady Vanishes"
"The Dam Busters"
"Mr. Arkadin"
"No, My Darling Daughter"
"Dead of Night"

I'm terribly sorry it took such a long time to write up but I hope you all like it now. I may later on be writing a blog post on British Actresses, if you have any suggestions, that would be lovely to hear from you. I know it didn't include every single British Actor but I think this blog post is just an introduction into that world of actors.

The 180 Tag: Katharine Hepburn

I was just tagged by Casey to do this. It was originally started by Kate in which she listed Glenn Ford as the actor she didn't like but she grew to love him. For Casey, it was Marilyn Monroe. The rules were- Name an actor, actress or director that you started out despising (or just really not liking) but ended up loving. Or vice versa, someone you started out loving and ended up despising (or just really not liking) — and explain why.

And for me, it was Katharine Hepburn. When I first became an old movie fan, I could not stand Katharine Hepburn. She always displayed herself as a snotty know-it-all and I just couldn't stand it. No one else acted this way, so why did she have to be so different from everyone else? Well my answered was solved, once I began to learn more about her. At first, when I would watch her movies, I would find someone else in the movie to grab my attention, so I didn't think of her. Sad I know, but I've really grown to like her. When I first saw "The Philadelphia Story", I actually thought it was horrible mainly because of Katharine Hepburn and her snotty behavior in the film but there is just something about her, that I really like. No longer do I see her as this know-it-all actress but as a woman who is able to get what she wants and always to deliver. In every movie she was in(whether it was a good film or a bad film), she always impressed. One of my favorite movies of hers is "Holiday", where instead of playing the snooty upper society rich girl, she plays the sister who is able to show real human companionship than any other character in the film. Through that film, I was able to really appreciate her more and to realize that, she was only being herself. A lot of actors and actresses all seem to act and behave the same way, there is no originality in Hollywood anymore and that's why Katharine Hepburn is so unique. No one will ever reach her caliber that she was able to accomplish. Katharine was an educated woman who was able to do things on her own and that's why I like her. I guess that's a big reason why I love Old Hollywood, it's because they were so original. No one can ever replace them and that is something that today's Hollywood really lacks- ORIGINALITY!

Other 180 Tags you should check out-

Kate's on Glenn Ford
Casey's on Marilyn Monroe
Graciebird's on Ingrid Bergman

Films of Katharine Hepburn's I would recommend-
"The Philadelphia Story"
"Holiday"
"Bringing Up Baby"
"Pat and Mike"
"Adam's Rib"

Does he look like him????

Sorry for being absent on here but for some reason I can't log onto blogger at all on my brother's computer and I can't use my computer anymore because it's starting to die on me, so I'm having to use my Mom's laptop while she's out. Hopefully I can get on more and I hope that my brother's computer will start to work properly again, so I can get on here.

So for a while now, people have said that my Grandfather looked like Robert Mitchum. I think he somewhat looks like him but I thought it would be fun to hear what you all think. This is the only picture I have of him and it's with my Dad when he was about 13 or 14(I'm guessing).

I really wish I had more to show but unfortunately I don't, but enjoy it anyway. :) I will be posting the British Actors Blog Post very soon, I'm still gathering more info up on them and then I will post it on here. I hope you all are enjoying the week so far. :)

The Greatness of Fred and Rita

Fred and Ginger were absolute genius when they danced together but one of my favorite dance scenes is not with Ginger but with Rita Hayworth. The two danced so beautifully together and I so wished that they had gotten a chance to make more movies together but you know that they would have been so lovely together again.

I guess you could say I'm still in a dancing mood but I swear I'm finished. It's just that I just watched "Affair in Trinidad" yesterday and was completely mesmerized by Rita Hayworth's performance, that I had to look up some clips of her, when I came upon some clips of her and Fred dancing together. What a very lovely couple to watch, don't you think? :)

Sorry Frank, it's time for the other guys to shine

On my last poll, I had asked Besides Frank Sinatra, which Rat Packer did you like most? Now the results have been tallied up and here are the results!

Coming in last place with 1 vote each, were the very funny Joey Bishop and the very talented Sammy Davis Jr. My Mom adores Sammy and so she was the vote for him. :)

Sammy smiles about the vote he received.

Joey ponders why he couldn't get more votes.

Coming in 2nd place, with quite an impressive 5 votes was the very charming Peter Lawford. The British heartthrob thanks his devoted fans.(I totally voted for him :D)

Peter makes the ladies swoon with his British accent and charm.

Peter may be the charming Englishman but there was someone who managed to slip away with more votes than he and he came off, just a tad more charming than Peter. The very fascinating Dean Martin won the coveted prize. Dean swayed his way into the number 1 spot with an astounding 9 votes to his name. Congrats to Dino!

I know that I keep apologizing for not being on or not posting but I really am sorry. I've been going through some things with my family and trying to be there for them and at the same time, I've been a little under the weather, so hopefully when I start to feel a lot better, I'll post another blog post for the Underdog Series. Any ideas on who I should do next? Ta-Ta for now. :)

I was born in Pennsylvania and I've lived here my whole life, though not in the same place. Finally on DVD!!!!

I don't know about you, but I've been waiting for "Four Daughters" to be available to buy on dvd and now it is. It's now available on wbshop.com Woo Hoo I'm so excited right now. :)

Which dancer would you have liked to have seen more of? Poll Results

I am so sorry that it took me such a long time to write this up but my family and I aren't having the greatest week with finances. It was so bad, that we couldn't even go food shopping until yesterday and we only had $40 on us, but I think we are beginning to do better. My Dad just got an offer for his business, so fingers crossed everything goes alright. So now onto the results of the poll!!!

There was two dancers that no one was really feeling and they were Mr.Bob Fosse and Ms.Vera Ellen. They just couldn't dance their way into your hearts, I guess. The two ran out of the poll as soon as it was done with 0 votes. How sad.....

Next up on the poll is the very lovely and enchanting Miss Mitzi Gaynor, who beat the previous dancers with 1 vote. She feels quite content on the vote and thanks whoever who gave it to her.

With another ties on hands, Miss Marge Champion and Miss Betty Garrett both danced away with 2 votes.

The two ladies now are trying to compete with one another to see who is the better dancer.

Coming out of nowhere and coming into 2nd place, was the other half of the Champion's Mr. Gower Champion. Gower brought in 4 votes! I personally didn't think he could do it but he did and now all the ladies are wanting to rip his eyes. Those ladies are quite vicious creatures, don't you think?

Gower tries his best Fred Astaire impersonation after the victorious 2nd place.

And coming in 1st place.... was none other than the tap dancing queen, Miss Ann Miller. Ann tapped your votes away to get in first place with 5 votes.

Ann feels so happy about her win, she's going to tap dance for you.

Trailer for her film "Small Town Girl"

If you didn't see already, the new poll is up and ready for your votes, so enjoy!
